First of all, an administrator should make sure the following points are met:
- The latest version of Handy Macros for Confluence Cloud is installed.
- Handy Macros 3.5.2 or newer is installed on your Confluence Data Center.
- Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant 3.1.9 or newer is installed on your Confluence DC.
There are also some drawbacks:
- The Handy Macros for Confluence app supports data migration through Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant only.
- Not all features can be migrated from DC to Cloud platform. Handy Status Timestamp, Handy Reminder, and a few other macros are currently not available for Cloud. However, new macros like Handy Poll and Handy Slider, in addition to Page status report feature, will be available for your usage.
- Handy Status in Cloud doesn’t have the distribution between individual, space, and global sets. That means that after successful migration all your statuses will be visible and editable on Confluence pages, but they all will appear at the same level.
Step-by-step guide of migrating Handy Macros to Confluence Cloud:
- Navigate to the Confluence administration console, and select Migration Assistant on the navigation sidebar.
- On the opened page, click Begin assessing in the Assess your apps box.
- On the Assess your apps page, select Needed in cloud for the Handy Macros app. Choose the status for the rest of the apps if you plan to migrate multiple apps, and click Done.
- Going again to Migration Assistant, you will now see Prepare your apps box. Click Begin preparing and in the Connect to cloud window, click Choose cloud site.
- In the pop-up window click Continue, then in Migrate from field, enter the base URL of your DC instance, and in Migrate to field select the cloud site which data will be migrated to.
- Check the Allow Atlassian tion data box, and click Confirm.
- On the Connect to cloud page click Continue. If you have not yet installed the app, click Install the app. Once the App is installed, click Continue and View policy. Review the policy, click Confirm and Done.
- Return to the Migration Assistant section, click Migrate your data, then click Create new migration.
- Click Connect to cloud, and give the name to the migration. Choose the migration stage from the dropdown menu.
- Choose your destionation cloud site from the dropdown menu. Click Choose what to migrate, and in the Apps box, click Select after selecting Global templates, Spaces, Users and groups.
- Select All and click Add to migration, Check for errors and after evaluating errors and warnings, click Review Migration.
- After clicking Run now, the migration starts. Wait for the migration to end.
